Sydney Gleason

Introduction
My name is Sydney Gleason. I grew up in Bloomington Indiana and went to Bloomington High School South. I am now attending Indiana University, majoring in Elementary Education.
Being a teacher has always been what I've wanted to do with my life. This comes from a combination of wonderful teachers throughout my education, as well as a mother who was a teacher and has passed down a love of teaching. I hope to work with students somewhere between grades 2-4.
I am also minoring in dance at IU. I have been in dance classes since I was three. I hope to be able to incorporate my love of dance into the classroom.
My Pedagogical Beliefs
I believe that children all learn differently, so they should be allowed to learn in the way that is best for them.
Children should be engaged and excited about learning, and I hope to be able to inspire students to be learners for the rest of their lives. I believe that kids should be taught in a way that doesn't dull their creativity and curiosity.
Technology in the Classroom
As technology in our society continues to evolve, it becomes more important to integrate technology into the education of young people; however, I believe that technology shouldn't distract students from learning. It should enhance their education and allow them to connect with the world outside of the classroom in ways they wouldn't without technology.
